Nitric oxide supplements have become one of the most widely used bodybuilding and workout nutritional supplements. These products claim to stimulate a multitude of effects, including increasing and easing blood flow, oxygen delivery, sugar absorption, muscle growth and repair, and energy. Taking nitric oxide health supplements will produce great results such as increased strength, lean muscle mass gain, quick recovery, and increased endurance.
The NO molecule is a volatile gas that acts as a neurotransmitter for cells. Basically, nitric oxide tells the body what do to and how to do it. In relation to body building, nitric oxide will expand and dilate blood vessels, thus increasing the amount of blood flowing to the muscles. This elevated blood flow will give larger amounts of nutrients, protein, and oxygen to the muscles to replenish them. Additionally, it will remove the waste of muscle metabolism. Together, this give you a “pump” that will let you excel at your workouts.
Although it has been proven that nitric oxide can help bodybuilders, the question now is if nitric oxide supplements will have the same effect as that which is produced naturally by the body. The answer appears to show that it definitely is as potent. Many nitric oxide supplements are in the form of L-arginine, an amino acid that is a precursor for the body’s production of nitric oxide. Studies have shown that L-arginine could possibly elevate the amount of Human Growth Hormone in the body. Many of these supplements also have added ingredients that will accentuate the good effects of nitric oxide.
There have been no recorded side effects from solely nitric oxide. Although, the fact that many supplements are L-arginine, there is a risk for some possible side effects. Like any amino acid, large quantities can result in nausea, diarrhea, and fatigue. Luckily, these side effects are usually rare or mild and can be dodged by paying attention to the size of the dosage. Be aware that there are protein supplements and other amino acid supplements that include L-arginine, and taking it in combination with the NO supplement could possibly cause an over dosage and result in sickness.
In conclusion, if you want to try to gain and build muscle mass, then you should be taking a nitric oxide supplement. Nitric oxide is a well known and well studied molecule and its effects on the cardiovascular system are extensively researched.
